Nah, not surprised, I've been to A.C. twice in the last 2 weeks, netted a combined $550 between both trips playing 1-2, each session about 5 hours. Last time I went to Vegas for two days, made about $800. From what OP is saying, the competition seems pretty soft up there too so I was just telling him the competition would probably be similar (just as soft) in A.C. and Vegas - it's all relevant of course to the casino, time of day/week, table, etc. So no real reason to leave until he was ready for higher limits.

when you go are you a tourist?or a shark?and what does that have to do with some kid going pro the truth is making 4BBs an hr is good at 1-2 thats $8 an hr hed be better off learning to deal

What? You lost me. I make much more that 4 bb an hour when I play, on average.

Well I'm a live cash game player $2/$5 or $3/$5 here in california. I don't why online people think live play is a result to less skill. First off most online players play micros first mistake. Micros are good for learning that's it. First thing you have to have to play poker is money. Live players know how to do with pressure because of the money. Most casinos use a 40BB structure so you don't need $20k. I been playing for 3 months 6 days a week. I turned $2000 bankroll into $6300. Which it could have been way more but had a few doctors on my table and took a few bad beats never again. My point is confidence is the key if you had few bad sessions you should make a goal for each day once you reach that goal quit. I set that mark at 2or3 buyins. Unless I got some complete donks at my table. Who are just giving away money.

I don't want to discourage you from playing the game but I certainly don't want to encourage you to jump head first into financial disaster. Take a month, make a deposit, buy pokertracker, play 20k hands, and look at your game.

1/2 Live If you raised say to 6.00 you will get 5+ callers if not the whole table 12.00 will often get 5+ callers so to isolate you must go 15.00 +

Depends where you play. Out in Southern Cali, a 3 - 4 bb raise will usually get the job done, maybe 2 -3 callers tops. In AC that's a standard "everyone play, family pot" type of raise. So yeah, in A.C. you would need to go 6-7 bb to isolate.

Hmm I agree with the guy you quoted KK. @ $1/$2NL they're there to play and $8 wont stop tourists. $8 wont stop regs either. 1/2 live should be played like a standard 2/4 NL in terms of PF action and post flop pot sized bets. a raise to $16 PF in $1/$2 NL Live is not uncommon at all, and pretty much is a standard "protective bet" when playing live, if you have a card room where $8 PF @ $200NL will get players to fold... I'd be scared to play there.

To get a closer measure of your skillset, recommend you attend one of the bootcamps offered by the pros. You'll get advice, learn more about competing, and start networking with those truly "in the know." Then determine your approach to gaming. (You might find that going for an academic PhD would be better [smile].)

im beinh honest here...im going to vegas in june for 20 nights...im planning to play 1/2 cash games or prob 2/5 depending on action....but im getting scared...if i wake up with a hand on the button, and 4 callers already, should i just go and put my full 400 dollar to get it heads up???... i mean ive read 16 dollars to isolate, id be afraid to get rerasied

If you have AA KK then let em raise

AK if you want to gamble. Playing live scared is bad.
If I bet 16.00 and get reraised, AA-KK in the whole I will Jam it in

Vancouver is in Canada.

Canada = socialist

His countrymen pay his health insurance.

Social Security is for US citizens. I'm not sure if Canada has a similar program where the young support the old... But if you don't report earnings in America you don't pay SS. You can still collect, so long as you've earned a certain amount by the time you hit 65 (It's been a minute since I read my social security letter, I believe it works this way) -

And a 401k? I'm 25 with 6 figures in the bank. I haven't even had a job offer me a 401k. If you want a retirement plan and don't have a 'career' at a company that offers you a 401k, you can make money with sound savings and investments.

All of these are moot points for the proffessional gambler, especially one in Canada.
