It is a game of skill based sorely on those who constantly show profit or end up on final tables.

Poker is definitely a combination of skill and luck. I feel skilled players coming on top in tournaments more frequently and winning more consistently in cash games. Great players know the concept of analyzing the situation and making the best possible decision. I definitely agree that you need luck to tournaments, but doing it consistently with high ROI will show that the player has at least some sort of skill.

Poker tournaments in particular are almost all luck. I forget who said it but the quote I remember is poker tournaments are a lottery, skill just gets you a few extra tickets. Very good tournament players have gone years without winning. If you play more smaller field tournaments or if you play a lot of tournaments you could potentially come close to the long run, but for the most part your tournament record will mostly be luck, but the better you play the more likely you are to get lucky and get a big score

Hello, Everyone! I think, the answer is in the question itself! It's obviously, that in basically in the Poker results depend from
own Skill and Skill your opponents. Who have more various, and main, more quality master-tools in own Poker arsenal,
often have more profit... But since the Poker is a Game with not 100% information, and Poker is not Chess and is not Checkers,
it is often the Poker Game turns in the Game "I believe or not believe" regard the actions your opponents, and this means,
that on the first place in the Poker often coming out the the many of different psychological factors, that, I think, especially attracting the many people in this Game in the all World! Therefore, the Poker such democratic Game, and in this Game can to play
practically everybody, and everyone can win by definite conditions! But stability of results depends on three basic components:
a good physical form (health), the stable nervous system and Poker Skill again, of course! Yes, I quite forgot about one component: about Lady Luck, that is very important especially in such Game, as Poker! Therefore, I wish Everyone constantly up your
Poker Skill, and, of course, Good Luck in the needing moment!

I don't understand? Skill to play AA's ? You just raise all in or you raise big preflop and how do you play AA flop turn and river with other players?

Things you can control, and things you cannot.

For me, and I'm a newbie with ten years of experience, poker is a kind of mix of things you can and things you cannot control.

Of course there is luck involved. But you can manage the probabilities on your favour.

I believe there will always be luck in the game, but still, like the casino rules, in the long run your skills will prevail.

Luck is part of this game , skill is other one .

If I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all.
Skill = bad beat
Luck = "good beat"

Right. Raise all in pre flop and get nothing.

The secret of the game is skill, the best player uses his skill and this makes him professional.

For me skill-luck is 50-50.

In my opinion the split is 60/40 for skills against luck.

For me, poker is a skill game with a lot of influence on luck (it is poker not chess), but we must not forget that if we play correctly we will win in the long term and it is very important patience, mental strength and resilience to Keep going when things go wrong. Particularly 10 years ago I stopped playing poker for lack of these last virtues, because I was angry about bad beats, but friend, assuming that poker has 50% luck and 50% skill (this assessment is very personal) we must optimize this 50% to the maximum to neutralize the incidence of the other 50%.

If you want to play real game, where you can show your skills and luck is not so important, you need to play live poker games (if you can). I think in online poker luck is the only thing, that you need to have, because i see lots of times, how people, who play really bad can have huge deep runs in MTT and so on. So, if you believe, that you can play well, for sure you need to choose live poker sessions.
