One of the main difficulties for someone like me, who doesn't intend to become a professional poker player, is balancing work, studying the game, and actually playing.

Undoubtedly, studying poker is extremely necessary, but neglecting this fundamental factor due to a lack of quality time to study poker ends up discouraging me when faced with mediocre results in tournaments.

It's important to consider that this sport, which for me is a hobby, is something I often think about giving up.

But like any sport, it requires investment, and I'm still fighting for it.

I recommend freerolls. The game is different than MTT, but you can build your bankroll, and you can also win tickets to MTTs. I think experience is more important than theory. You have to play as much as possible.

If you don’t want to be a professional, don’t hold yourself to professional standards.
Measure success by making the right decisions, not by results.
Accept variance as part of the game (even if you play well, you can still lose).
Poker should fit into your life, not the other way around.
If poker is taking more from you than it gives, you need to change how you play it… not necessarily quit.

You seem to read my mind. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.
I want to improve my game because I love playing poker, but I have no intention whatsoever of making a living from it.
I have my profession (lawyer) which I fought for and studied for, and continue to study daily to achieve excellence. On the other hand, I love playing poker.

Don’t give up if you think of Poker as a serious passion!
It’s okay to have long period of breaks in between and not getting enough time to play!
Find some time as and when possible from your busy schedule to study the game more and more and sharpen your skills!
Who knows one fine day you might hit a big win and things take a twist! 😊

It's true! Never give up! I have set aside some time for poker. My dilemma is dividing this time between studying poker (theory), reviewing hands (something I neglect), and practicing (which I enjoy the most). That's why I end up prioritizing practice itself, at the expense of studying poker. But giving up doesn't cross my mind.

I like you have never Intended to be a professional poker player and to balance work kids and family life is not simple or easy The thing is you could be whatever you want to be.

My screen name says it all I totally love this freaking game. Over the years I've studied sometimes very lightly sometimes very seriously and as time goes on i've gotten better and better and that's the thing It really is going to take time for you to get to a point where you don't get mediocre results. If you just put in a little study time each day you're gonna get better but you should be focused on to what you're studying. It's not about ICM or GTO or anything else it's about understanding the game understanding yourself and finding the best balance you have when playing. It took me quite a while to win my first tournament to stop seeing mediocre results today I do really well when I could play and I still am not a professional or want to be 1.

Like you this game is more of a hobby for me although I have hopes and dreams I had never thought I would go to the World Series yet I won a poker tournament to go to the World Series not just once twice I know it wasn't for the main event. I've been a good winning player for years I just haven't had the opportunity financially to move up but it doesn't happen overnight. Play the game for the love of the game for the enjoyment of the game too many poker players out there forget why we started playing. Very few people started because I want to make easy money and it's not easy money. Just be yourself and enjoy it.

As for investing in game, I would recommend you doing that but I would also recommend using what you can find for free and being logical in it. About 4 1/2 years ago I stopped playing to really focus on the game. I spent quite a bit of time not playing but just learning every single aspect spending months looking at preflop months looking at term month looking at river month on the flop And when I came back to the game I started to really kick some you know what. I say this because of a competitive ***. You don't have to do what I did but be logical and Start learning one place at a time The thing is you might be surprised at how you start to see some better results. I wish you the best of luck brother.

Very cool your story. It shows that behind a nickname at a poker table, there is actually a person, with their own trajectory, difficulties, and challenges. I liked your story.
It is very similar to mine; I am also a father of two children and try to balance work and family routine with poker, which, I repeat, I love this game.
I have also won a few small tournaments, always with a low buy-in. My biggest win was $67 on PokerStars.
But I win some tournaments, always with a low entry fee.
For now, I am satisfied, since the amount I invest in poker does not hurt my budget.
But the desire is always to improve!

Maybe I don't want to be a professional, I just try to balance my working time, and the poker fire, it won't be easy to abandon it, you always have to keep fighting.

I don't have much time to play, but I play freerolls every day. I play even if it's just twenty minutes a day. Playing for leisure is my hobby when I have free time.

Poker serves as a social and stress-relieving tool, allowing you to experience the thrill of competition without risking your life when approached correctly. It's important to approach it as entertainment, managing your time and finances.
