Poker Causes Anxiety

I have noticed that playing poker has caused me a lot of anxiety, this causes me to drink a lot of coffee a day, does this happen or do I have to stop playing for a while poker.

If this is expressed in a large amount of drunk coffee then you should think about a temporary break in the game.

Psychological preparation for playing poker is very important. If you are very nervous, ludshe make a rest from the game: go fishing, picnic, relax with friends. And come back to the game cheerful and focused.

I don't get anxiety when I play poker but I would suggest finding something that relaxes you that you can do while playing ex listening to music or something like that so your not focusing not what's make u anxious. I think drinking an excessive amount of coffee will exacerbate your anxiety.

Well the coffee sure doesn't help with the anxiety. Caffeine will only enhance the effect of it. This may sound lame, but try listening to classical music while you play. Not only does this sooth the nerves, but it stimulates neurons, supposedly making you "smarter".

I always play music while I'm playing poker which I would guess helps with any anxiety you might have. However if it's getting to the stage where you're drinking lots of coffee everyday to cope then perhaps it's time for a little break? Maybe take a week off doing things that help to relax you and then come back to poker recooperated and ready to go!

Replace your drink. Tea, juice, etc. Coffee will kill you.

Stepgov is better to replace coffee with other drinks, and during the game listen to a good soothing music, and there will be less anxiety

I suppose there's a level of anxiety in all of lifes situations and it's usually a pretty healthy response.

You would need to give more context for me to understand where you're coming from.

I don't know if you're nervous about your hand hitting or if you're anxious because you're losing money, or whatever it may be.

The fact your posting in here means you've considered taking a break though, and the body knows best.

you are probably nervous because you're afraid to lose. think about what you are a good player and you play better than the people at your table. don't worry about it. it's the same game. turn on your favorite music. sit comfortably in a chair and playing quietly and think about how you take the Bank ))))

Poker seems to calm my anxiety quite a bit. I assume its because it makes me focus on one thing.

Why play if it causes you a lot of anxiety? As far as coffee goes, I drink a lot whenever I'm not out and about. I like coffee.

Caffeine is all together bad for anxiety in general also.
