I would rather think a better definition is:  To  engage  in  reckless  or  hazardous  behavior by bettting on a game with an uncertain outcome, because it only depends on luck.

If you take that definition, you could say that playing one game is a form of gambling, because luck stays a part next to all the skill. But when you look at the long run ... playing for a long time, with studying all parts of the game and getting your skills as sharp as you can, assuming you have enough intelligence to handle all aspects of the game and make it your own, you can reduce the luck factor to such a minimum, that skill always rices above.

That being said, most players never come to that level (at this moment I count myself to that group) and so luck stays a fair share in our playing. Becoming a poker player where you can't hardly speak of gambling, asks alot of discipline, studying, time and yep ... also money.
