It's much harder. Especially online.

And almost no traffic at the other game variants than NLH and a little PLO. And on most sites, there is not much action over 100NLH.

The problem with people who think the solution is to just study harder is that, because of the rake, it's not enough to be a little better than your opponents - you must be a lot better. And it's hard to find players who consistently make big mistakes, except at the lowest levels. So you reach a point of diminishing returns, no matter how much you study. Poker is not like chess.

PLO is a little less solved than NLH and has a lot of gamblers, but the variance is ****ing brutal.

Agree. I have always believed rake is our silent enemy. So unless you have a sponsor or some form of rakeback, you are just a pawn in a game of chess. And yes, a pawn can win a game of chess, but it is not very frequent.

Yes - mostly because of the many poker tools(especially GTO Wizard), poker in general is getting harder and harder to beat - and the soft games from 10+ years ago are just memories... The only way to still keep an edge vs. your opponents is to work on your game more, study constantly to keep improving your game...

I don't see it any more difficult, if I see the badbeat world growing at micro limits, and with little chance of rising in the short term, you have to study hard and play for long hours to adapt! And always keep in mind that your growth is expected in the long term! salutes
