There is no simple solution to this problem, because we are all different, but if you can see the problem for yourself and take a step back and realise that your addiction is ruining lives around you, then it's possible to beat it. I was once attracted (not addicted) to the horse racing scene, so much, I said to a girlfriend I had at the time that I would see her any day of the week except Saturday afternoons, When she asked why? I said " that day is the time I make my money at the bookies". During the week I would lay bets at the betting shops every day during my lunch break and then return to work, on a Saturday I would stay in the betting shop, placing bets and watching the horse results all day. Then after a bad day losing heavily it dawned on me that it was not the life I wanted for my girlfriend. I walked out of the betting shop and never went back. I was one of the lucky ones that could see that my lifestyle was getting out of control and before it got a good hold on me I beat it. I married that Girl 45 years ago and we are still together and even now I will never return to the bookies, Sure I have a flutter now and again if we fancy a day at the race track but that is very, very rare and it is just part of the day out, I can take it or leave it I think the last time was about 7 years ago.
