I think that it doesn't matter to someone who is prone to addiction. Their life situation determines what they become addicted to. A strong person doesn't develop any addiction.

...poker is stimulating and when there is intention and effort to grow it helps in mental growth... cigarettes have no benefits... those who have a tendency to addiction do so because they do not have control over themselves...

Funny, I’d never thought about it before, but yeah, when I feel like having a smoke while playing, I usually give priority to poker. After all, you can’t just walk away from a tournament table for a quick smoke break :)

In my opinion, poker is no more addictive than smoking. I don't smoke, but I see how difficult it is for people to quit smoking.

For me, poker is not an addiction, and I can go long periods without playing. Quitting smoking was much more difficult for me.

I don't think it matters, some people just have addictive personalities and can get addicted to anything,

...don't smoke, play poker when I want to, when I don't want to play I don't play,

but yeah poker or gambling can attract a lot of addictive personalities so

I think it's something to work on and recognize if it's a problem👍

Often such people may be depressed and even think about suicide.Typically, addicted gamblers delete contact lists that existed before they started playing poker and did not share it.Poker is a game for intellectuals, so "lowlife thugs" are extremely rare. Although, you can find such people in online poker. The world of gambling addiction is addictive. People run out of their own money. They use up savings, the money of loved ones, friends, close relatives, and even distant relatives. There have been cases of gambling addicts making peace with their enemies in order to borrow money from them.

I never smoke and will never try that. I dont think comparing these 2 addictions make sense though, one is about taking something into your body, while the other is about entertainment/hobby. The other one puts your health at risk while the other one puts your finances at risk. There is no benefit in smoking, while playing poker can be beneficial.

Hey there,
i guess it depends and walks along with discipline.
To stay healthy and clean, maintain a healthy lifestyle through a balanced diet, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and follow simple own rules like breaks from Poker or specific times. Same for smoking. Its not enough to just say things. You have to believe that to much poker/smoking (in general) is just bad and will not make you a better person.
So the question is not what is more addicting: You have to tell your mind the right way!

Greetings,
Natox

I smoked for a few months when I was a teenager, but it wasn't an addiction, it was more of a way to look cool. I never understood how you couldn't quit smoking. You can quit poker too, especially if you hit a bad streak and the magic of the game wears off or you just don't feel like playing. I can't decide which is the bigger addiction.

It all depends on your priorities... And for me, when you quit smoking, you're afraid you'll start again... And when you quit poker because of constant failure, you're afraid you won't start again... It's all about motivation)))

It depends on the person. Poker can be addictive if it's played for the wrong reasons or without control, just like smoking. But if you treat it as a skill game and manage your time and bankroll wisely, it can stay healthy and enjoyable.

Both addictions can have serious consequences for health and quality of life. However, the mechanisms by which they develop and manifest themselves may differ. It's important to understand that both poker and smoking can be dangerous, and if you or someone you know is struggling with these addictions, you should seek professional help.
