I agree with you , I mean people see only the bright side of those things.
Without a doubt there are many professionals out there who dominate the fields online/live but if someone is out of all this he may thinks that poker is an easy and lucrative activity.

I always see people who play poker for a living as winners in a tournament... (And yes, if you decide to play poker for a living, that becomes your profession, making you a professional poker player, you being successful or a failure is irrelevant)... A lot of them aren't gonna be winners (85%)... those who manage to win will only manage to win enough for a modest living (14.1%)... A few of them will win enough to win big (0.9999%))... And only a very small fraction of them will become legends (.0001%)

Could you imagine if there were, and perhaps are, professional bingo players? Wouldn't that be a helluva knee-slapper? Folx who make their living at playing poker are living the dream of being your own boss, which is quite attractive and enviable to anyone fed up w/their day job. Now, I love going to Six Flags and cool little places to "get away" but I wouldn't want to work there every day.
