When it comes to moving up in Stakes and playing at a higher level you have to be aware that your game does not suffer and you begin to lose more than you win, and forget about the chips you are playing and concentrate on the blinds! I like many used to play with my chip count showing and when the blinds went up it became frightening how your chips go down in value, So now I only ever play with the BBs showing so that I know how many I have left and when it becomes time to Shove all-in or call those all-ins from other players.
