I'm looking for opinions on poker tables. Octagon? Race track? Strangest or most mundane surface you've played poker? What's your favorite kind of poker table and why? Hell, include pictures of your pride and joy!

As for me, I almost dropped $3,000 on a professionally-made oak race track poker table. The price included six padded and wheeled swivel chairs. It was beautiful and on clearance!

I couldn't justify that kind of money for a table that I wouldn't use all that often, so I ended up picking up a folding poker table on sale at Sports Authority for a hundred bucks. :)

I'll always prefer a proper racetrack table but circular / hexagonal ones are better for self-dealt games.

I prefer a full felt table with a raised rail but some decent material on the kitchen table works too.

After an evening of poker, a couple lingering friends, my girlfriend, and I sat around our kitchen table and accidentally found ourselves playing a game of "Would You Stay In With That?"

In other words, we were teaching my girlfriend some poker basics, hand possibilities, betting strategy, whatever. Before we knew it, I'd dragged out a set of chips and we played a pretty good four-way free game.
