There is no need to rebel against the authority of your math and science teachers, unless they try to teach you creationism or some other garbage. There are many different ways to draw the attention of students back to math and science, as well as the other important subjects like English. You can garner their interest in math and science by talking about the physics behind race cars in F1 and nascar. You can show them how statistics is involved in games like poker, and how patience and discipline are important in games like chess and go. But in all of these examples, you only get a brief glimpse of the relative subject matter, and you cannot teach all of statistics to a student by showing them how to play cards. But this is only good for stirring interest and creating motivation in a student who would otherwise see zero value in spending more time studying math and science. Yes, students should be rewarded for doing well on their assignments and for providing correct answers to the problems. The only subject that provides the opportunity to be right when providing differing answers is philosophy, which is not even taught in public schools. If you want to teach people to understand and succeed in real life, teach them how to be good students and how to actually see their education through to the end, whether that is a high school diploma or a PhD. Leave poker where it belongs, with the other extracurricular activities. P.S. I didn't even touch on the ways in which the idea is bad because of how it would reinforce negative social traits and encourage bad and unethical behaviors like lying. It could also leave younger students with the wrong impression about gambling and make them far too comfortable with making wagers. A 3rd grader should be learning how to read faster and comprehend more, how to multiply and divide, and how to behave well and respect others; they should not be spending their precious time learning about pot odds and bluffing.
