Final note , if you want to attempt a living at poker , then you need to know exactly how much money you need each month to survive/ pay bills and then evaluate how much winnings you need per month, to not only pay those neccesities, but also build your bankroll for the downturns in the game. I once knew a pro poker player in Atlantic city about 20 years ago. He played $ 20-40 limit - 7 -card stud { this was before hold em became so popular} . He was a GREAT PLAYER , AND HAD MADE A LIVING on soley poker for many years . He was married with 3 kids and he supported his family with poker winnings. BUT...after years of beating the game , his luck changed drastically { not his skills} and he was no longer beating the game..in fact he was losing badly . The last time I saw him, he had been on a 9 month losing streak and his savings were almost depleted. It had gotten so bad , that his wife was threatening to leave him because they could barely pay the bills each month. This is just one example of how players who play for a living can go thru hell . Its not all glitz and glamour like you see on talmud tv poker shows. Even some of the best poker players around, can and will eventually go thru long bad runs, where they are now living on the edge financially . You ever heard of Cindy Violet ? She plays on the pro circuit and back in Atlantic city { years ago} she went broke and had to borrow money to play poker and try to recoup her bankroll. Even the great Phil Ivey { largely considered the best poker player on earth] Finally went thru a run of bad luck in poker in 2015, and lost millions { of course he still has a huge bankroll and could always borrow money if he ever bsuted, which I doubt would happen } . And if his bad luck continues for 2016-2017..etc...he will probably lose millions more in poker. Just more proof of the power of good and bad luck, in any form of gambling. It is almost always a bad decision to play poker with scared money or small bankroll. [/QUOTE]
