Then there is the grinder type pro that eeks out a living at the margins - say $500 per week.  The way they do that is by logging hours, knowing their skill level (and not playing above it) and picking games where they are the favorite.
 
With the internet, there are unlimited tables you can sit at, you can easily play 48+ hours per week and there are lots of new players every day that don't have the skill level to play at the tables they choose.
 
So the conditions have never been better for the aspiring pro.
 
For example, if you can make 2 x BB per hour in $3/$6, mulitplied by 48 hours per week, that is 2 x6 x48 = $576.  If you play 60 hours, that is 2x6x60=$720 per week.
 
If you can play well at $4/$8 or $5/$10, those figures become $768/960 and $960 and $1200....not bad when you convert to $NZ.
 
Your previous post talks about bankroll management.  If you ever give it a shot, you should have a starting bankroll of about 200 x BB (if you are a conservative player) and 300 x BB if you are an aggressive player.
 
In addition, you should cover off 6-9 months living expenses as well eg, if you normally live off $600.00 per week, save 600 x 26 weeks = $15,600 + your bankroll of between 200 + 300 x the BB.
