Preflop recommendations - Small Stakes HoldEm

Anybody have comments on the preflop recommendations given in Small Stakes HoldEm book by miller/sklansky/malmuth. Been playing low limit so figured the book would fit. Any comments on this book in general? I was trying to incorporate their preflop recs and think it's made me play worse. I'm sure they're quality, but now I seem to find my myself being more passive and limping in too often. Just curious what others thought of the book.
