Ok so I'm down the the last six - top three get paid in a live mtt last night - and to be honest my chances of making the money are all but gone have just taken a big hit - a,q v a,k - everyone s short stacked (will not the guy who had the ak :-)) So I straddle all in (1bb) utg. So yeah I'm going home almost certainly but I want to take my longshot everyone folds to the small blind who pushes all in - the big blind mucks. I look down and my cards are gone. The TD is called over and it s too bad- so sad ciao. I was pretty f ing angry but have now realised it happens quite a lot and the rule is protect your cards or it s your fault - am still angry btw. What pisses me off is one of the players to my left or right has to be the person who mucked my cards (both also short stacks)- not the dealer and this is where the rule bothers me. It encourages cheating - now I dont think either of these guys did it deliberately in this case to be honest- neither of them are that petty but it means that really you can just muck someone elses cards and if no one sees you doing it oh bye bye...... In short I wont go and play live again for a while and when I do go I m going to take my mouth guard from AFL/kick boxing as a card protecter A - Because it's gross so you touch that you're going to pay attention B - As a reminder if anyone touches my cards before I've mucked I'm going to beat the shit out of them :D Anyway all angry joking aside - has this happened to anyone else - I know it happened in this year wsop - and what do you reckon to it as a rule - I know, I know protect your cards but it seems horribly flawed and seems to reward either cheating or sloppy dealing. Here s what happened to one chick on Day 4 of the WSOP YouTube - WSOP 2009 - AA preflop in to the muck (dead hand) Dealer s first response - 'and did you protect your cards' I tell you one thing after watching that I will never, ever, ever tip a dealer at a casino if I cash in a big tourney.
