Top 10-15% make enough to cover their buy-ins.
Top 5-10% Make a profit.
Top 5% do very well.

(These are official stats, but they are generally recognized as being close.)

I got these figues from Official Poker Rankings (a number of years ago.)

If you study, develop your skills and grind a lot. Why not?

Hi.
Of course yes. Why not ?
People make money at work, for a comfortable life, and poker is the same job as any other. The difference is that in addition to money, poker can also bring you pleasure. Apparently it all depends on you.
Good luck.

if you have some good money to invest in study materials and focus, I think so but it takes a lot of time and patience to see the money come back and the profit increase

Yes, everything is possible. There is no amount of time that will make you a master of poker. There is some prerequisite work about figuring out the math of certain situations that you seem to have started. You need to periodically come back to that as you become more sophisticated in your play, but this pales in importance when compared to the need for discipline.
So track your results and be honest with yourself. If you are losing money, either you know what you need to do to improve and reverse the trend, or you don't.

Yes and no.

Yes it is possible, but no it probably won't be comfortable.

I would suggest finding a FT job that was very easy to manage, and play poker PT.

This would enable you to play poker freely and most likely would lead to better results (financially and mentally). :)

I think it would be possible but probably fairly stressful and maybe even not that healthy---I think a much better way to earn a living is to work outside in the fresh air on a job where you get lots of exercise

The bottom line with poker is that yes there is indeed a lot of gambling and luck involved in the short run. However, in the long run (which is the only thing that matters for professionals) the small skill edges that we push each day add up to big profits. And this is why, yes, you can make a living playing poker.

I think so, but to earn enough you must be very good, years of experience and a little study. But I do think it is possible to make a living from poker. it would be a good life.

To make a living you have to be really good but you also have to be on your A game every time you play. Be able to stay focused for hours.

There are hundreds if not thousands of poker players who have med millions playing poker. I couldn't count the amount that has made money. However, for every winner, there are several losers. You need hard work, study, and a huge amount of luck to make money at poker.
