Is it my imagination, or does there seem to be a reduced effort by the poker sites promoting this years wsop? Seems this time last year, and the year before, it was bigger than spring training.

Cant honestly say. In england the WSOP isn't promoted that well anyway. FullTilt poker seems to have been running a large TV ad campaign but other than that there is little poker advertising that I can see.

I can tell you the WSOP is planning for some of the smallest fields in the last 10 years. They have planned more $1k events than ever in hopes of bringing people out amid the horrible economy. I would think that the WSOP would be begging the sites to run WSOP promotions starting in March.

Well this year is the worst economical hit in like, human history.

One would expect that the big expensive tournament series' like the WSOP will falter slightly.

I will predict a lower showing of players this year because of economy, but it will return stronger than ever in 2010+

When I first read that I read it as it will be better in 2010 and thought.. do you think the recession will be over by then?? after re-reading it I saw the 2010+.. LOL

yeah definitely agree, after the recession poker will be back bigger and better than ever.. I just think this may go on for a few years first :(

Yeah it could be a few years, obama himself predicted 2011. I agree, it will probably be around that time that the new "golden age" will appear.
