[QUOTE="detroitjunkie, post: 3181243, member: 61462"] I have often thought about how different rules are from one room to another, the best I can come up with is that it boils down to two things. 1. How people who run the room interpret certain aspects of rules / what rule book are they using / how they define fair and whats best for the game based on their own experiences 2. Some places, like ours, modify certain rules based on their own room. Some people mistakenly, or not, do not have bet lines made on the felts, so something else must define the bet line. We do not have bet lines on our tables so we use the players cards as the bet line. If chips hit the felt in front of the cards they are in, but they must touch the felt, so hovering over is not considered in - but is frowned upon and can get you in trouble if overused...leading to another point regarding players that play there. Some rooms will change rules based on the input of players that commonly play there (WSOP changes rules all the time due to input from the big timers) and those rules become unique to a room. another example is, from a different thread i posted here, is how some rooms now have taken a different approach in dealing with a Turn card that is exposed early. one way protects from cheating, the other way protects the sanctity of the hand...which is more important, I guess it can depend on your personal room now in regards to websites - most rule differences, to me, seem like poor programming...like how WPN sites do not account for dead buttons or small blinds, this is the biggest glitch I have ever seen and cant believe they do not fix it...also, cant remember which sites, but some do not put the button the the small blind when heads up, or at least do not make the adjustment needed to do so.
