We've all seen a quiet table suddenly become very chatty with 2-3 guys introducing themselves to the new pretty avatar that just appeared in the empty seat at the table. Then you notice a hard-nosed REG in a hand chatting with her blatantly merely call her river bet, when he shows down the nut. Hmmm, you think. Then another player checks down a hand with her, as they chat nicely about his new boat, and he turns over TPTK, which he never bet. Hmmmmmmm, you think again, with a couple more m's. Over the hours you watch the soft, personal game as her stack rises and missed bets and raises abound. Surely not all women mind you, are doing this, but this one obviously is playing these testosterone junkies, and is proud of the fact. You realize with a knowing smile, that her avatar looks like a social-media sefie and her cute name in all caps, is please fold for me spelled with no vowels like: PLZFLD4ME. But hell, why not use every advantage. It's smart, resourceful, manipulative. A ruse. A bluff. It's poker right. She can't help guys are stupid enough to treat an electronic persona, which they will never lay eyes on in reality, any way different than a normal opponent, and give free pots and free money via missed bets and un-chased legitimate draws. Poker is a social game. The same bonds that tie us off the table, influences us at the table. We are just rarely honest. We are animals. Poker is a game of illusion. Bluffs, weak means strong, strong means weak, a line of C-C-C-AI. Just as husbandry has manipulated genes in wolves to become cute and loyal lap dogs, they have as animals, in turn, evolved a manipulative temperament to glean free, pampered food, shelter, and pampered love and affection, wherein their created species no longer has to fend for itself. Now who's the pet? Who's manipulating who? The point, is that poker is the ultimate form of manipulation. And anywhere shrewd poker players can find an edge, they seem to migrate and evolve in that +EV direction. But where do we draw the line. Are there any ethical ramifications, you wonder? All most people care about is a self-centered need, want, lust for where's mine? How can I reap these same female-based advantages? I want a piece of the action. All drama aside, I'm sure you have guessed my true subject matter. So, I have notice that some of these chatty woman, and not all chatty women, seem to exhibit some masculine tendencies and verbiage. And no I'm not even suggesting this of a moderate portion of woman players. To say it blatantly after all the rig-a-ma-roll, I believe that some men pose as women, to curry favor for their bottomline. They pretend to be women. Is it so hard to believe. Ever heard of Catfish? These people put up a fake selfie of some random pretty lady they got from a magazine, and play a false persona behind that pretty face. This is a, less than rare, phenomenon, that is well documented. They get nothing from it but to manipulate people's lives, and ultimately cause undue harm. In the case of poker, there is great incentive to being a woman at the table. Softer game. Extra revenue. Plus, better treatment and offers of boat rides. But in the case of Catfish perpetrators, they harm in the way of false proffered relationships, loyalty, and love. The fakers I think I see at the tables occasionally, aren't causing tragic betrayal, they are running the ultimate bluff. And money's her name! So, I ask you, and what do you think?
