Hey Everyone: Ive been on Cards Chat from 12 years ago. I dont contribute alot... Im working on that. I apologize. I hope this makes it up. My story. I went to Prison (not Jail) when I was 19, for Unlawful use of Transportation. (Joyriding). NOT THEFT.. lol. Anywho.. I was on probation, but violated.. I was 19.. I just wanted to party, so eventually they thew me in prison. I learned Poker from them. We played in prison (we all made .10 cents an hour at the time) $0.05/0.10 no limit. I learned to pick up betting styles, but really thats it. Its big business in there. Anywho, got out after 1 year, told my dad, wanted to play.. He gave me $100. I played a 2/4 limit table. Live at Casino of the Sun in Arizona. Lost... Got another $60 from him, won $40. So i was down $ 60. Played on Bodog (anyone remember that), put $200 in... Played for a 3 days.. lost everything... I would win, and then just bet anything.. NO DISCIPLINE. fail. about 4 years later, went back to Bodog, after im married. Had 1 child.. Had $100.. PLayed a tournament ($2,000 i think? maybe $3,000) I won, 1st place. Ended up with $1,050. SWEET. Cashed out $1,000. I think my bankroll at the time was $105? with that extra $50. Was up maybe $10 a day.... I remember I had $220 in my account. I cashed out $100 (I really needed it).. I dont remember the table I joined but it would have been no limit. Maybe $.50/$1.00 or $1.00/$2.00 I lost my bankroll. Fast Forward 15 years.. Now im a Software Engineer. My salary grants me some movement. I inserted $500 on BetOnline for a bankroll. I play the $.50/$1.00 tables Cash Games (arizona29 if i ever see you. Say Hi, and i'll play nice :) ).I won 2/3 sit n go's and lost both MTT I sat on. Over the course of the last 2 months, I have earned $390. Still in there. Not cashing out. The $500 i can afford to lose. But I sit at $890. I play differently because the money i put up, I could afford to lose. I learned a lesson. To detach from any individual hand, and focus on your button position, the player you are playing, your cards, whats on the board. Whats in the pot. In the end, I think if you play right, consistently, long term the math tells you, you make a profit. If you play as a professional, you make more.. But i just cant right now. Im not profession. Big point. Know you arent professional. Take what you can get. Be ruthless. I dont know about all of you, but when i guy bluffs me for $20-40. I call, and he loses.. I feel bad. :) P.S. As I wrote this, I am at $902, cause i was typing on the off hands. (Yes I multitask)
