A can't stand playing with a straddle or with people who straddle. Why not just go put your money in a slot machine and have a chance at a bigger win? Straddling may "spice up" a cash game and may increase people's willingness to gamble. But, I don't play poker to "gamble" and I'm not interested in "spice!" Poker is a game of skill and straddling does nothing but take a step toward making it a game of luck when people play hands they should fold.

Somebody was asking for an explanation of straddling...
Before cards are dealt, blinds are posted, when the person immediately after the big blind puts in an amount double the big blind before receiving or looking at his/her cards this is called a straddle. The player that placed the straddle then gets to act last before the flop. Any other player wishing to limp in must do so to the tune of 2x the big blind.
I like straddling, but I usually only start doing it if I've been having a good session and I've got more in front of me than I started with.

We play the Stradle in our home games and it seems like someone is always waking up with a hand. We allow mutiple stradles and the last stradle cannot raise if no one else has raised the pot. Of course we are playing for fun mostly and not for profit. Playing for profit I love when a player stradles, chance are they won't have a hand and it increases the pot size if you are lucky enough to pick up a good hand at this point.
