Is there a story behind 9 high?

In recent wsop Main Event episodes I heard both Prince Scotty and Kenny Tran make comments about 9 high being all it takes to win. Just wondering if there's a story I'm missing 'cause I'm all about the trivial things in life. Anybody know?
