Tipping The Dealer

you really have to think about the short- and long-term gains

I normally just tip 1 small blind for every pot I win, then when im done playing, if I have won big ill tip accordingly...yes tipping is a extra cost, like rake, but I think its just good practice, and good karma....

You are still receiving a handsome hourly wage and the tip feature is indeed optional. Who knows maybe the player is stuck a bunch of money and needs all the chips he can get.


However having said this, I always tip my dealers except for when I meet a dealer who feels entitled to the money I am putting on the line.... then it's not about the tip or the money it's about the attitude.

Remember when you receive tip/gratuity smile and say thank you. If you don't then that's fine as well.

like it all, though 'handsome' wage can be argued. at wsop we make 8.25/hour plus tips, but if you are good and work the system right that turns into 35-40/hour. charity card room dealers (where i manage and deal in Michigan) the dealers get paid 3.25/hour plus tips (service industry minimum wage - like wait staff gets), i obv get more for flooring, so the tips are needed or the good dealers will go somewhere else...our tips are good and we have some of best dealers in town. most casino dealers do not make much more than 8-15/hour (depending on the state) in USA because the casinos are greedy, so again unfortunately tips are needed to keep the good dealers at your regular places

i never feel entitled, i know these guys are paying for my house, my food, my medical bills, my car, everything (some dealers do not and they dont last long, at least not at my rooms) so i am saying thank you about 100 times a day, its now a habit so i dont even have to think about it, and it does help, i hear players saying how they like it - especially the ones that are dealers in other rooms, i think i make more money because of it too, a lot more.

oh, and at the michigan charity poker rooms its actually illegal to ask for tips, and a lot of casinos will reprimand, or even fire you, if you are caught doing it - wsop will suspend you for a day or two

Yeah and again let me just say although I am making an argument. I still tip my dealers, waitresses, barbers, PIZZA guys etc lol its life. You gotta throw a bone to get a bone

I usually tip between 2-3 $1 chips depending on pot size

anything is possible, but I think the matter and the dealer experience, such as mix and those books, because not all poker casinos exist at every meal, mixing machine cards.

It's open to argument. I consider any tips I pay to be a cost (just like the rake). Is your edge over your opponents sufficiently good enough to make a long term profit after these costs? This thought process makes me a mean tipper!

i agree.....chop the cards all time......when i play with friends....chop always....DO NOT TRUST EVERYONE !

you should tip the dealer with an amount you think is right for you. there are people giving high tips +500$ and there are also others.. whatever is right for you

Its a nice thing to tip the dealer but it still depends on the player if he wants to tip or not.
I usually give the dealer a tip if i get a big pot. If its a small pot i would still tip him if im winning, but if im still down, ill pass.

No way, the dealers (unless they are crooks) dont have anything to do with the cards you get. On the roulette maybe they can adjust some, but not with cards.
I tip if the dealer is a nice lady, jokers or if I get a nice win. :deal:
