We all have varied reasons as to why we choose one type of game as opposed to another. I love tournaments. Yes, the money, I believe, is better than cash games; be it on-line or at casino tables. Intimidation many times plays a big factor; is my cash flow enough, I'll be broke and won't have money for tourney, etc.,etc. The thing is, however, I have lost on a tourney before and "tilting" (kind of sorta like maybe) I jumped on a cash game. I barely had enough to enter so, I was now also intimidated by that fact. Called the blind bet with 7 - 4 unsuited. Miraculously, no one raised and to my amazement two 7's and a 4 jumped out there on the flop. Then someone went all in and then another; I was scared and called. And won! I ended playing just a few more hands, that I did win and left the table with a very, very good cash bank. So, Cash games are my go to games and I play them when I have an hour or so, before tourney.
