Cash games are good because you can play however long you want each session. You can sit out whenever you need to without penalty.  Cash games the blinds aren't going to go up either so your game strategy will stay the same throughout the session and only change depending on opponents.

Tournaments you are going to be at the table for a long time if you make the final table which is where the big money is. You only get 5 minutes break every hour on the hour. You can't sitout without being blinded out while you are gone. Tournament grinds take alot more dedication and time than grinding cash games.

The allure of the tournaments are the BIG paydays when you bink one. Cash games you will not experience this feeling. You also will not have bubble play and other exciting situations that make tournaments more popular than cash games to the recreational players.

Both have their ups and downs you just have to choose which one fits into your life better. I try to mix in cash games but I mostly play mtt's and sng's.
