IMO there is a fine line between arrogance and self confidence. Knowing you are good and not being afraid to stand behind that can seem arrogant, but I dont think it is. Thinking you are worth more as a human being than some one else because you have more or know more, that for me is arrogance.  I play guitar and I am good, and I have no problem saying that. I am no better (as far as being a human being) than anyone else because of this.

I have a couple of Tri's books, and can only recommend them. As you may have alredy seen from his free videos, or perhaps you read some stuff by him, he seems to be a cool guy, and can actually sound quite humble. He talks about the things he can learn from watching better players, for example.

I know a guitar player from Sweden named Yngwie Malmsteen and he is very good. But I read an interview where he said "I am the forefront of guitar players in my genre and everyone can hear it" This is arrogance to me, since he expects everyone to share his belief. To say "I am one of the best in my field" is different if it is true.
