We stayed North of the Strip AKA: DOWNTOWN Vegas @ the Golden Nugget. I've stayed there a few times before and highly recommend it to any planning to go down to Vegas. Golden Nugget has an amazing pool, included a water slide which lands you through a tank filled with sharks along with other marine life. Unlike the famous Strip (which is also great), downtown Vegas has a more laid back atmosphere. It's has more of a classic feel to it. Do the zip lining along Freemont Street. Check out the Grand Casino they have a great tournament series from June-July. Also hit the poker room at Binions they have a very good tournament structure which will guarantee you very long play (if you're good & run well,lol) and stop by their deli for the best ever pastrami sandwich whipped up with a serving of potato salad & of course, a pickle on the side. If you're more into staying on the Strip, Hard Rock, Vegas Hilton & Rio offer sweet deals as low as $60 per night if you plan on playing any of the WSOP events-which my boyfriend did. You can also check out the Quad (former Imperial Palace) great renovations. Caesar's Palace & Aria offer the best daily & nightly tournaments hands down. Grab a burger @ Gordon Ramsy's Grill in Planet Hollywood. We spent a few nights at Planet Hollywood for only $65 per/night. The sandwiches at Earls Sandwiches are great too. Go up the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas and/or the Roller Coaster at New York New York. If you have a bit of time like we did then you MUST do like we did and do the helicopter tour over Grand Canyons West Rim & then take a day bus trip (so you can drink) to the South Rim. I went down during Ladies Week which means that both LIPS (Ladies International Poker Series) & HHPT (High Heels Poker Tour) were hosting a series of Events geared towards the ladies. This gave me the opportunity to meet & make a lot of friends with other ladies who share my passion for poker. I even recruited a couple of amazing ladies to play the Ladies Only Tag Team Event-what a blast!! I didn't do as well as I had done in the past.I faced very tough opponents in all my events. Opponents I would not normally face playing the micro-mid stakes tournaments that I'm accustomed to playing online. I'm not as strong/good a poker player as I had once thought I was. This is a very humbling realization. I'm now aware that I have a lot of room for improving my game. I have quite a bit of hard work ahead but with patience,reviewing my hand histories, sealing my leaks, practice, time, reading more on poker strategies, watching better players, practice & more practice; I will become that stronger player I aspire to be. I may not have won anything this year in Vegas but Vegas wasn't a complete loss. I gained new lifelong friends, experience, self realization, and knowledge. Can't put any price on that. :) [/QUOTE]
