What is a proper split when being staked %100

I have a boss thinking about staking me in some wsop tournaments next year and he wants to talk some percentages, He is putting the money up I'm going to be putting the work in. So my question is what is a proper split when/if I get in the money?

Would need to know your stats on such buy-in events, lk ROI etc..
But around 80/20 in favor of backer.

If he is a friend, splits have actually gone 50/50 even these days (and was most common split until BF screwed everything up). BUT, a common split for something big like any WSOP Events, you are talking 80/20 to 70/30 at best (staker/player). These types of stakes are very tough to get with any split, unless you have big tournament live experience, or WSOP Experience, and generally good results with the experience.

Luckily for some of us, people invest in stakes for reasons other than pure ROI achievements, etc

With a friend, a good way to go is 100/0 till the buy in is satisfied, and 50/50 after that.

Thanks WEC that is the kind of answer I was looking for, a good solid detailed answer. Our initial talk was 50/50 but that was just quick short bs talk. I think I'll shoot for 60/40 but in all honesty I would take less just for the chance to play at that caliber.

Of course, that is including stakeback paid back before split (ie if 1K WSOP Event and you cash for 2K exactly, he gets back full 1K and you split profit portion only)

my girlfriend recently staked me in a $46 buyin live tournament and I made it to the final table and won $140...i gave her $100.

Haha it is very exciting. He is very interested in putting me in the main event. But I am thinking about talking him into putting me in some smaller events to see what happens there, and if he thinks it's worth it from there then we will move forward.

My opinion is, don't ever give up a chance to play the Main Event. For many it just does not come up very often, if ever.

Very true. I am just afraid of the chance of throwing away 10k of my bosses money. But on second thought there is the chance of cashing and maybe even winning. It's a tough choice lol. But you are %100 correct, it is basically a once in a lifetime opportunity for most of us so if he is in then so am I.

I've also read about arrangements where the split is better but the staked person has to pay back any and all losses provided he eventually wins enough to do so.

That is called 'make up'. Yes you are right. It is used at times where additional staking is expected.
