Think it's pretty much all been said above - if you're playing on the major sites like Full Tilt or Stars you don't need to be that worried about bots as they're normally pretty good at finding and removing them.  They also take issues like collusion very seriously and are constantly on the lookout for it.  That's not to say it doesn't happen, but it shouldn't be [I]that[/I] big a problem for you.
 
On the other issues, I look at poker very much like a food chain.  At the top are the really good players, and at the bottom are the completely hopeless cash-spewing donkeys.
 
The very fact that you're even thinking about issues like this puts you ahead of the latter category.  The trick is in identifying the players that are better than you and avoiding them, and then playing instead with the ones that are worse.  As someone whose name escapes me once said, you don't need to be the best player at the table.  You just need to be able to beat the worst player.
