Live is best, for me. I live in Los Angeles, one of the hottest spots for live poker in the world. Also online poker, while not strongly regulated against, is still considered illegal here. But here are some reasons why I think live is better in general:

-No depositing. Give cash, get chips, on the spot. No having to give up your credit card or bank account information to an offshore site.

-Fair game. No bots, and almost guaranteed no cheating. You're also in a legitimate casino regulated by a gaming commission which treats cheating as a crime. Many people's criticism of online is they can never be sure they're being given a fair shake.

-(Generally) Softer players. No one's using a HUD or software at a live table, thus you don't have to worry about players having information about you available to them that you don't know how to obtain about them, as far as stats are concerned.

-Live tells. These are real, and can be a serious weapon to have if you are good at interpreting them correctly.

Those are just a few reasons why I would always rather play live than online. Plus, live is the true heart and soul of the game of poker. Get to look your opponents in their eyes, and see their will absolutely crumble as you crack their aces with ace nine offsuit after flopping trip 9's. You can't beat that.
