Acting out of position is a big no no. Have to keep cards in plain view, can't hide chips (i.e. putting a $50 chip in middle of your $5 stack or holding your hand over your stacks). Don't talk about what you would have had if you were in hand during action. Dealer can't tell you how much your opponent "has left" in their stack or the pot size. Don;t string bet. If the chips cross the betting line, you've made a bet. In most casinos you don't even have to speak if you don't want to and can make your intentions known with your bets only. Tip the dealers. You can also leave the table as needed to take short breaks. First time I went I learned a lot from the other players. Many players are pretty friendly (keeps their customers happy too). Just picking up on these little rules goes a long way. As for reads, pay attention. Watch for patterns, watch how players are playing each other, listen to table talk, ask yourself if the plays make sense. You can learn a lot watching how another plays. I self talk a lot live (in my head) reminding myself to occasionally mix my play up, keep track of pot sizes and position at all times, be mindful of my body language. You'll find different styles work for different folks. Live I'm generally pretty patient and tight. I also tend to use body language and false tell techniques. Don't be afraid to play very tight and very patiently. I'm amazed how you can fold for hours and still get callers at 1/2 live. People wanna gamble.
