I am almost certain that in the early days when there were few female players and it was an old boys club that they were harassed and the old boys tried to chase them out of the club. Same thing happened to Police, Fire, Scientists, and especially Engineers in decades past but some brave women perservered and paved the way for the females of today to be able to do whatever they want.
