What does Negreanu’s quote mean?

“Why do the pushing when the donkey will do the pulling?" -- Daniel Negreanu.

Basically there's no need to always be betting or raising when you have a very good hand or the nuts. Specially when you know villain will do your betting and raising for you.

The worst thing you can actually do against some villains is bet or raise as it'll just scare them away(make them fold) when you have a very good hand or the nuts.

Phil Helmuth has a similar quote in one of his very first books from way back when.

He meant that most of the time there is no point in wanting to be aggressive defending the BB, even if you are winning, the ideal is to let your opponent bluff and continue calling without raising to minimize your losses if he really has value, not if must deny the existence of the advantage of the position.

If your opponent will Anyway do (Bet/Raise) what you intend to do, then let them do the needful..
