Some players do exhibit the tell you mention though - they'll look at their cards, drop them like they're hot, think for a minute then make a bet.  The tell here is usually they'll look back at them again, like they really can't believe they've been dealt pocket kings.
 
It really depends on the player, so I wouldn't rely on this one alone.
 
Some other simple ones:
 
 - The way players stack their chips is usually indicative of their playing style.  If they maintain sloppy stacks of odd denominations, they're probably a LAG.  If they maintain neat stacks of 10 or 20 chips each, they're probably a TAG.  If they've bothered to line up the flash colours on the side of their chips into neat lines or pretty patterns, they're probably a rock (hell - they've had time to make said pretty patterns in their chips, so they're obviously not throwing them around much)
 
 - If there's a flush draw on the board and a player looks back at their cards, they probably [I]don't[/I] have the flush.  If they had two spades, they would've remembered.  They might have had a black card though, and they couldn't remember which suit it was.  So they're probably still drawing, at best.
