This summer my friends and I decided to do a poker party on the roof of the house! So we made ourselves a cozy spot there and took our laptops with us, gave out our mobile internet and played till night. By the way, it was a very good experience, because I got about $100 for that night.

Sitting on a desk to play poker (while staying in hotel in some foreign country) might be unusual aswell (although there are clearly some places even bizarre than that) ...
