What pro poker players do you like/study

I’ve started to study the intricacies of the game more and honestly I considered getting a poker coach or getting a membership to a poker coaching website with interactive hands but I’m not sure I mainly use my phone. Does anyone have a website they visited or book they read that enhanced there understanding for the game. Pro players that have good online coaching would be much appreciated as well. Thanks

Try to improve the game with programs, this is a really effective method. See how top players play, if you are at high limits, playing at micro-limits is different because opponents use different strategies. It is also important that you want to play cash or tournaments.

I don't pay that much attention to other poker pros to be honest. I mostly focus on teaching the best micro stakes strategies to my own students.

But I do think there is tons of great high level material out there these days on various training sites, in books, streamers and so on.

I wish all that was available when I was first learning the game!

The really funny thing about it though: I sometimes catch myself playing like whoever I am studying in the moment. If I have recently been studying Hellmuth, then I sometimes catch myself playing really tight and being aggressive with my post-flop play. If I have been studying Negreanu, then I sometimes catch myself playing "small ball poker" and taking stabs at some blinds and antes. If I have been studying Johnathan Little, then I sometimes catch myself calling off players with my Ace-high (usually correctly!) because of the GTO situation we are in.

I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, but by studying so many players: I think it is important to find "your own style" somewhere down the line. For me, I've been discovering my own natural play-style and using other pro "styles" as like "gears" I can shift into to exploit others at the table.

I believe there is a lot of value in studying many good players because they are all good at poker for a reason. They all share many winning techniques and mindsets in common. You should adapt to these yourself too. The differences among each pro "styles" simply illustrates that poker is not a straight-forward game where only one single strategy is potentially successful.

I like watching Twitch streams and YouTube. Matthew Staples is great at explaining what he's doing each hand and why he's doing it. Gripsed is too. I think you can learn a lot just by watching them play.

For my part, I watch professional players' games.
