Message: [QUOTE="wyd123, post: 1386999, member: 58250"] i have a br of $500 and over my first few weeks (started 1/1) have been more or less treading water at the 1/2 stt's my 9max and DoN's are most profitable so far....my cash game has been crap from the start...i dropped 20 bucks my first day at my first table and have been recovering that at the micros since...SLOWLY. i'd like to stab at the 5$ STT area (at FT) but cant to bring myself to do it while in the red....but isn't that what my br is for? to dip into? otherwise why not start with a $20 deposit and work up from there? this at first seems like a justification to jump up while more/less losing at current stakes, which i understand is not a winning strategy. i'm an absolute beginner in real money (been playing avg 3-5 hours/day for a year on the other side =p) read a few books and have been lurking here the whole time...this is my stab at online poker, i can afford to lose it all, and not try again for years. but i'd rather not =) i've bought and have holdem 'manager up and running quite well, with a good HUD that i like. as far as MTT's go, i've placed in the top 100 in the Ferguson $1 (1,700) twice but from what i understand MTT's are NOT good for playing on any kind of regular basis to build bankroll (or am i mistaken here?) so i've decided to play it once a week(ish) basically throw a dollar at a lotto ticket. 18+27 player have all (4) missed the money...and i've yet to try a 90 or 180. i am quite comfortable at MTT's as i play ALOT of freerolls the past year, made the money 3 times, and threw every penny into one game! lol i understood what i was doing, but i knew i was gonna throw 500 in before newyears. and was hoping to catch a hot streak for fun. didn't work. go figure =) that was my time at poker U. i can multi-table two at once but not much past that as far as comfort levels go. i can do 4 in "robot" mode, but enjoy the game much more when i can focus on every hand. if any of yall wanna point me in the right direction as far as game/stake selection that'd be great, also any other bits o knowledge you wanna add would be greatly appreciated...i'm a bit "new" here but plan on makin' somethin' with this money...so i'll be more active here these days. i'd be happy to post my screen name if y'all wanna look me up, but only if that's necessary to answer my question. thanks in advance wyd [/QUOTE]
