I learned card playing in general from family gatherings. My fathers side of the family was huge and I think they all loved to play holdem and pinochle and whist and gin rummy and on and on. I dont remember learning but it seems like I was quite young. I started playing NL Holdem online about 2009 but quit playing entirely 2 years ago and just came back this month. I love the competition and I love a game that makes you feel like a genius one day and whatever the opposite of genius is the next. I was and still am a losing player. Over how much time does one have to win to be considered a winning player? I did not know what a bankroll was let alone try to manage one. I just deposited how ever much money I felt was expendable and then I expended it. Wait! before that seems at all impressive I am talking like $50 - $100 per month. Hey, at least I could make it last a month.:o I think I did moderate because I wanted to play almost everyday and needed to make the expendable money last. I operated this way for at least 8 to 10 months and then one day decided to read a book about playing poker and I watched the poker school videos at FTP. WOW when I learned about position I was tickled. It made so much so sense and betting parameters based on the size of the blind were quite helpful. I really ate it up and became very willing to learn and very humble about my false start at playing poker. I basically lost approximately $50 - $75 every 30 days for a year and a half. I believe the loftiest goal I had was to maybe go 2 months before having to deposit. I rationalized that it was ok because I counted it as entertainment expense and would rather play poker than say, go to a movie. I cannot recall exactly my first big lesson. I know it probably was painful and humiliating and I fear perhaps I missed the lesson. I know that this type of poker playing is no longer acceptable to me. I think my expectations are realistic and I hope I find what I need to not be such a fish sucker nerd player. You all can help right? Ok well, thanks in advance.:D [/QUOTE]
