Like you, I tend to get bored with things and have taken several breaks from poker. My longest break since starting about 7 years ago has been almost a year and a half. I just left my money in Poker Stars and there it was waiting for me when my xBox lost its luster.
 
I also have always enjoyed puzzles, math problems, crosswords, challenges of that sort...and I tend to think of poker in these terms. I like the idea that I started with less than a dollar and turned it into something...even if that something is less than I make in a week's work.
 
So why so you play? I don't know...but that's why I play...and you sound pretty similar to me in alot of respects.  :)
