To be successful at poker, be willing to humble yourself a bit and earn your way up is where you have success. The learning and development isn't for the faint of heart.

Without building foundation first, you could deposit 1K and hit the 11.00 tourneys and eventually you will end up with 0.47 in your account.

Now with that said, not trying to be pessimistic about it but I think that many players who claim they are successful really aren't.

It's the "grinders" that have earned up their ranks from micros is who would be successful.

I consider a guy who is in a 2/5 live game earning an hourly of a full time job over the course of a year would be successful. I don't really look at a lot of the high stake pros that sell off their action and earn for their backers as successful. I consider a 10nl professional multitasking grinding it up to consistent +5bb over 100 hands over a course of a year as successful.

The success is defined individually. I do say the common trade is discipline, work ethic, drive, and profit to define success.
