Succeeding at poker accomplishing goals... These things can definitely mean different things to different people. My situation is a good example for years I played recreational $1/2 live poker. I tried to learn a little about poker, and I believed I was better than the average player at my casino. About 2 years ago, I suffered a back injury which left me disabled, unable to earn a living. I get a check which pays my rent and food but little else. I have "time", so I decided I was going to earn extra money playing poker. I have put hours into studying the game learning about equity, pot odds, etc.... I play live $1/2 n 2/5 and play online MTT's and low cash stakes. My goals have changed and so my poker habits had to change. I do not consider myself a professional poker player but I believe that I will get there if I continue to put in the "time" playing and studying. This is where most people struggle, you can not stay at the same level, the game is getting harder and harder to beat. Rake is tough, competition is tough, you have to continue to get better to succeed
