Interestingly, I have quite a bit of experience in all of these competitive and recreational activities. They have an advantage over many other activities as that anyone can do them. The hero building that PokerGo may bring to poker has a good chance of increasing awareness among the masses, and hopefully validation which can lead to legalization. It's good to see the poker biz fighting back against Australia's recent ban on online poker. But poker hero building by winning the WSOP Main Event or other notoriety, IMO, will be stunted short of its potential unless the likely increased awareness of the game doesn't translate into more players and ultimately social legitimacy and opportunity to play in respectable locations and with consistent home games. PokerGo and the likes, WSOP, and the casinos for that matter could help educate the public about how to put on a home game in order that said game could be sustainable over the long run.
