Wow, on-line poker is so boring compared to the real thing...

J on the flop gives QJs the enormous pot and as I shake his hand he tells me something like "gotta risk it sometimes" and I giggle a little inside. Funny thing is for some reason I don't feel tilted AT ALL when I busted or lost big pots live when I probably would be throwing my pet off the balcony online... oh well next day played a 50€ satellite to a 350€ buy in and ended up getting the seat along with 10 other players so it was worthwhile. I'll be there again for sure, but online is still my home.

I enjoy live a lot better than online for most of the reasons already mentioned.

Sitting at a computer getting headaches alone isn't much fun to me. Yes you see more hands, but that doesn't make up for the solitude and non poker feel. Playing live, with chips, and reads, and cash and cards is just so much more valuable in terms of enjoyment. Reading players is so valuable and the inability to do it online is a real negative (yes you can get reads online, but lets not pretend its even close to playing live).

The community of players in a casino is pretty nice to have too. Poker is a social game, and online makes the social part of it way to hard to happen.

Live games are much more exciting than online to me. I am lucky enough to have a card room pretty close, and rarely play online anymore. Its just not what I would want to do with my time, or money when I have the other option.

The best thing about online is no tipping.

You know of a 1/2/5 online game? For multi-tablers one hour is like 1300 hands. At 1/2 to go up 5 buy-ins isn't a lot in that many hands (as with going down, which is what I did

Playing in a casino, is probably alot different, but you do have to think of it this way some of those people play poker for a living thats what they do all day everyday, so sometimes the odds are not as good as playing online, but yes definately alot different.

While it would seem that live would be more boring, it is not. With live poker you are physically involved and immersed in the environment. You're only connection with online is the computer screen. With live poker you can actually study your opponent, play with your chips, the involvement is more real.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. There are pros and cons to both, most people here play both. I enjoy playing live, especially with friends because of the social environment, the reality of the chips, real cards, real chips, real people, etc. But when I want to improve my play and get enough hands to actually make the luck aspect minimal, I fire up some tables online.

I agree. Live poker is more fun because there's the social aspect, and you are not as rushed in your decisions. I've lost all of my money in my home game in 3 of the past 4 times, but I feel better losing there than I do when I lose online.

Of course, playing real is way different then online.
It's so much better and you can actually tell...
most times when people are bluffing.

Actually, I've never played at a casino and someone brought up tipping before. What is customary for tipping, etc. at a live casino?

I prefer live poker to online....but both have their pros and cons

online...you can play anytime, anywhere and unlimited options and instant seating

...but you cant read people like in live play...no free drinks...and you're sitting by yourself staring at a screen

live play....can see who you're playing....very little chance of being cheated, where as online ring game very high chance....free drinks...get rated for play and recieve comps....and it's definitely more entertaining to me than online

.... but in live play far less options of game, limt, stakes....you might have to wait an hour to sit down.....and worst part of live play can be where you get seated...
you got 50/50 odds of being seated next to someone thats been there for 3 days and hasn't showered....or someone that sucks and slurps hard candies non-stop.....or someone that is constantly encroaching on your space....

most people tip the dealer whenever they win a hand....
most people tip $1.......

....some tightwads bring a roll of quarters to the table to tip

I always tip $1 (playing 5/10 or 10/20 games).....if I win a particularly large pot...I'll give em $5 chip (cant be cheap when you're playing with and for money)

I do agree with you.
Live poker keeps you "alive", while Online games can become boring especially if your opponent are tight players.

However I enjoy playing online more, cause I'm too lazy to get to a casino

Live play is definitely way better, but I do love the comfort of online play. I don't have to get ready or wear sunglasses (kidding I only wear them sometimes)....OR deal with crazy men who get called on their bluff and get mad at me

I not had opportunity to play live in a casino; I would like to have sensations of plays in real live casino, to see the face of the donks!!. It is the unique experience to play in alive casino, the lights, the environment, it is something fascinating; already this day will come. The Vegas! wait for me that there I go!

Thank you for the information I do not know it, I thought that donks were equal in any site, in poker on line or on real casinos, but while these donks continue being very donks they are welcome in casinos or in poker on line. I think the best advantage of online poker is the sheer number of hands you get to see 24/7, its great practice for the real thing.
