Just came back from the WSOP. This was my third time. But found it more exhilirating. Not for the WSOP but the tournaments conducted at various venues around town. Poker players around the world are in town. Not all can afford to play in continuous WSOP tournaments so others provide a less expensive and more customer friendly venue. Ceasars with their Mega Stack Tournament went from 220 to 1K. A great place to play and not so crowded and star crossed. The Venetian also provide similar sized tournaments. Both Ceasar provided stacks of 5K or 6K and hour blind change structure. Much better than the WSOP. For lesser money their was the fabulous Binion CLassic which had comparable events but for a tenth less. So the $1500 NLHE at Rio went for $150 with a field that would average 200. Where else can you play Razz and Horse for a sum that wont break you. I spent most of my time there and if I won would head up to the Rio. And if you made it to the dinner break would provide dinner for you. Which was nice as the top 30% of the field got to eat together and talk poker. The Nugget also had a nice series but was very top heavy in the pay off. But the GRAND room where the tournament is held is beautiful. So all in all if you want to play continuous tournament poker alternative sights are more geared for the poker enthusiast. THe WSOP in my opinion was so crowded and full of stars. It was like being in Disneyland. Full of Amateurs with a lot of spending cash and OnLine whizzes and top pros waiting to take them off. While places like Binions and Ceasars although doesnt offer the notoriety really worked to please the individual. Nice for some of us whose BR are not in the 5 figure range.
