My point is that you've gained respect from the table because you made a big bet/raise and had the best hand.  In poker that's called momentum and you can definitely use that to your advantage. Other people repect raises and you'll in turn take in more small pots.  It's not roulette, it's taking advantage of a situation.  Most of that is lost in the new format.

And roundcat you're right debacle is too strong a word!

edit- all good points aliengenius...  but i can't post any more today (lol yes i understand the 7 post rule is a necessary evil!)... look forward to continuing the debate tomorrow.
