I started winning pretty consistently, but I also found it pretty boring.  I just can't get too excited about doubling or tripling (sometimes) my stack after many hours of play.  I like tournament play more for a few reasons.

1)  The top payouts are huge.  For a cash game session, you double or quadruple your stack on a good night.  However, you aren't going to win 100-1000 times your buy-in like you could in a tournament.

2)  With some basic poker knowledge and a little luck, you have the potential to score big.

3)  The rising blinds and changing stack sizes create a challenging environment where you have to constantly adjust your play.

4)  To make money in a cash game, you need to play frequently.  With a full time job and family, I don't get to play as often as I'd like.  I'd rather go for a big score a few times a year than spend day after day grinding it out.
