I believe...... I believe with ALOT of patience and self discipline you can do anything in the poker world. I recently on Jannuary 19th at 4 Bears Casino in New Town ND with 125 dollars in my pocket and a full tank of gas drove an hour and a half and registered for the fall classic poker tournament. With a field of just over 100 it was a 10k prize pool. I played probably the best poker of my life after taking an online course and deciding to loose the shades and heaqdphones which i believe distract you and take away your vision of other players tells. In this tournament I played very tight but at the same time took advantage of players weakenesses as I seen them and when I got their tells. One thing i will never do is go allin preflop unless I have AA. It leaves no option to bluff your player off on the flop turn or river. This tournament payed 10 places and we were down to 11 i believe I was 8th in chips and I had AQ on a flop of 87J the player goes allin and I figured somthing wrong so I called because I also had a flush draw and had him outchipped he had K9 same flush draw I won with an Ace on the turn and double up just before the final table. This was very risky. Once I made the final table I let players eliminate eachother just so fast it was like they were in a hurry to go somwhere. I played maby 5 hands at the final table 2 where I took one person out each time. Once with kings aginst Jacks and Once with AK I flopped a King and he had QQ so im sitting with the big staqck with 4 left. Got heads up he wanted to split and i considered it but I wanted the trophy and the win. He had a slight chip lead and even offered me the trophy but I wanted to earn it. Finnaly I see this guy is nervous probably his first tournament and biggest he made heads up. I managed to buy several pots with nothing and buying blinds eventually with a 3 to 1 chip lead I told him he needed to change his game up or hes gona just get blinded out. Then i waited for a hand i picked up AJ spades and allin he calls with A10 the ace hits and my hand holds and i won 2400$ and the trophy and prestige. Then turned 150 into 600 in a 5/10 omaha high low pot limit game. With a comped room I celebrated with a couple new players I met and we agreed to meet the next day for a cash game on saturday. I ended up driving to a tournament with a full tank of gas and a buyin in my pocket. Knowing I needed to make the money or drive home broke. I think my mentality i was in can be mocked or used by anyone pretend like your broke play like you need to win like your life depended on it. Not saying only play good cards AA KK QQ AK AQ but pay attention to EVERYTHING, every player every bet every raise players movements players actions and this will take your game to a new level. Its not always about the cards its about the player playing the cards. And stay away from allins preflop as much as you can. Its just a risk you need to avoid if you want to go deep in tournaments. I hope my story helped and my story is 100% true. Good luck to everyone.
