If you let your mind wander to anything but the task at hand--for hitting it is executing a perfectly timed and proper swing, and for poker it is making the best decision on any given hand--you will almost certainly fail.

In order to hit a home run, you must not be thinking about hitting a home run. In order to win and make profit from playing poker, you must not think about winning and making profit from poker while playing. This is actually much harder than it sounds, and the only way to accomplish it is by practicing your ability to focus on the task at hand.
