Hello, everyall:

There are many poker books out there, and if you're like me, you've read a number of them.

Now, if you had to throw away, or forget about all but one book, which book would you swear by, and keep, and why.

Mine is "Harrington On Holdem (1)": Dan Harrington has been around a very long time, and is a former chess master. Of all the books I've read, this one always comes to my mind first, as to strategy, and sound playing.

I've never read poker books and I don't think I'll ever read them :), I think if you want to get something out of poker it's only through your own experience and that you gain only from playing a lot of poker :)

If you read some great poker books, I'm sure you'd change your mind. But please don't (change your mind) ;)

I've won 2 freerolls in the very same day!

pavel, honestly how could it NOT help? (think about that for a second... )

Recently I've been doing some studying and research on a rare autoimmune disease (Cryoglobulinemia).

When I first discovered my partner had been diagnosed with it, I listened to what doctors & specialists told me about it and asked them many questions. The thing is, until I STUDIED the disease (reading LOTS of literature) I didn't even really know what questions to ask them.
Can you see the parallels between this and the game of poker? If you can't, I'd suggest you might possibly have lots of studying to do. < This is a good thing... more opportunity to improve.

I don't think I'll ever read a poker book either. Which one says a 6-9s will call your AK on a deep run, and how you can swallow losing most your stack?

Hard to say what my favorite book is.

I loved all the HoH series, I know some didnt like the last one as much. I also read his book and cash games and I thought it was great, but many also didnt like that one, I am not sure why? Sure it is outdated, but when you know that, his ranging was great, and the reason for his ranging was insightful.

But so many great books, hard to say. The Mental Game of Poker was great. Tournament Poker for Advanced players, Elements of poker.... So many.

The Mental Game of Poker .

This one for starters Daquess (Jared Tendler)

If you think some fish calling off iwth 96s and sucking out on your AK while deep in a tournament is what is keeping you from winning... you might have a bit more reading to do than most.

Poker books

I haven’t read any actual poker books. I pick up a lot of information watching it on you tube or on TV. At the end of the day… poker is constantly evolving and you will play how you play…. Make adjustments along the way… and get comfortable being uncomfortable;)

If I could only keep one it would probably be The Mental Game of Poker by Jared Tendler. That book was a life saver for me.

This is a great book. It's on amazon and the 4 bad reviews are laughable.

12 years ago, my absolute favourite series was the 'Winning Poker Tournaments - One Hand At a Time' by Apestyles, Jon Turner & I don't want to say the other guy because he repp'd Lock Poker when he knew they were going down the tubes & ripping players off.

It was the best in it's day. I read Vol.1 & Vol.2 probably 6 or 7 times each. (Vol.3 I didn't like as much). It's been quite a few years since I've looked at them & no doubt they are outdated for today's game... but maybe still useful for the micros?

Modern Poker theory is my favorite. I have also read books by Matthew Juanda. They are very insightful.
